Wilma De Jager, of Accord, NY, departed from us to go to her eternal home with Jesus the Lord of Glory our comfort in life and death on Sunday, May 5, 2024 at 12:15 am after a brave 3 ½ year battle with AML. She was 70 years old. Born on October 25, 1953 in New Jersey to the late Nicholas and Jennie Kuperus.
Wilma attended Churchman’s Business School in Philadelphia and went on to have a successful career as a bookkeeper. She worked for Power and Light in New Jersey, Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, and California. Wilma also assisted her husband with the family business and most recently worked for Redeemer Broadcasting Inc. in Olivebridge, NY
In addition to her professional accomplishments, Wilma had a passion for needlepoint and dedicated her time to helping with the food pantry. She also served as an organist for several church locations including Sussex, Goshen, Kingston, and Rock Tavern. Playing the organ for church services was a significant part of Wilma's life, reflecting her strong faith and dedication as a parishioner.
Wilma had a lot of love in her heart and over the years Wilma and Elbert fostered many children who they still have a connection with.
Wilma is survived by her loving husband Elbert De Jager, brothers Charles (Debbie) Kuperus, Richard (Karen) Kuperus, and Tom (Tammy) Kuperus, sisters Henrietta (George) Vellinga, Susan (Eric) Mys, and Winnie (Jake) Gros, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Friday, May 10th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Humiston Funeral Home in Kerhonkson, NY. A graveside service will take place on Saturday, May 11th at 9:00 am at Benton Bar Cemetery, 2591 Lucas Turnpike, High Falls. The funeral procession will form at 8:30 am at the funeral home.
A Celebration of her life will follow at 11:00 am at Westminster PCA Church, 614 Station Rd., Rock Tavern, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Gideons International (gideons.org) or Redeemer Broadcasting (redeemerbroadcasting.org) in Wilma's memory. Wilma will be greatly missed by all who knew her for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith.
