Walter Friedlander

September 4, 1947 — February 15, 2011

Dr. Walter Friedlander, a life long resident of Kerhonkson, NY died February 15, 2011 at Kingston City Hospital. He was 63 years old. Walter was born of September 4, 1947 in Monticello, NY; he was the son of Remedios (Castro) Friedlander and the late Abraham Friedlander. 




Walter was a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and worked for the United States Department of Agriculture. He had a passion for tennis and was a member of the United States Tennis Association. Walter was an animal lover and was in his glory when he was watching, feeding and studying birds. He will be missed by his many companion animals that shared his life including Molly, Stella, Sam and Buddy. Walter was a history buff; he enjoyed learning about the history of Kerhonkson and learning about his heritage. Walter served in the 156th FA, New York State National Guard from 1969 through 1972.









In addition to his wife, Valerie at home and his mother, Remedios of Kerhonkson, Walter is survived by his son David of Kerhonkson, his brothers, Lester Friedlander of Pennsylvania, Barry Friedlander and his wife, Merle of Parksville, and Glenn Friedlander and his wife, Zairen of Kerhonkson. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. Dr. Walter Friedlander, a life long resident of Kerhonkson, NY died February 15, 2011 at Kingston City Hospital. He was 63 years old.  Walter was predeceased by his brother, Richard.



 



Visiting hours will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Saturday, February 19 at H. B. Humiston Funeral Home, Kerhonkson. A Funeral Service is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Sunday the 20th at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Kerhonkson synagogue Cemetery, Kerhonkson.
