Thomas J. Lucas

Thomas J. Lucas of Kerhonkson, NY passed away on January 9, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. He was 69 years old. Tom was born on August 9, 1946 in Kingston, NY; he was the son of the late Dolorita Uhl.

Tom proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1969.  Tom was a retired Sergeant for the NYS Department of Corrections having worked at the Eastern Correctional Facility for 38 years. He was a member of the VFW Post 8959. Tom enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and his two furry companions Raven and Nutmeg.

On February 14, 1999, he married Kathleen Finnin Lucas.  They shared many years together filled with love and laughter.

In addition to his wife, Kathleen, Tom is survived by his children, Tara Lucas (Chuck Auchmoedy) of Saugerties, Erin Vecchio (Anthony) of Minot, ND and Melissa VanHorn (Nicholas Tacti) of Accord; his brothers, Eugene Lucas (Kathleen) and Charles Lucas of Kingston; his sister, Mary Jane Schwark (Lester) of Port Ewen, and his grandchildren, Kaleigh, Alexis, Jaden, McKenna, Alex and Trace.

The family will be receiving friends from 3-7pm on Tuesday, January 12th at Humiston Funeral Home, 30 42nd St. Kerhonkson. Military honors with a flag presentation will be held at 7pm. Cremation will take place at the convenience of the family.
