Thelma Zupevec

Thelma Zupevec of Ellenville, NY, died Monday, December 9, 2013. She was 89 years old. Thelma was born on June 6, 1924 in Margaretville; she was the daughter of the late Ward and Marjorie (Cross) Griffin.

From 1950 through 1970 Thelma’s parents had owned the Woodland Valley Inn in Phoenicia, NY. Thelma had worked as a waitress at Bessie’s Luncheonette on Canal Street in Ellenville for 25 years.

More recently she had driven for the Office For The Aging in Ellenville and also had been a bookkeeper for Puritan Clothing Store, Oneonta.

Thelma is survived by her daughter, Onnolee Decker of Kerhonkson. Grandchildren; Colleen McGinnis and her husband Kevin of Hawaii, Peter Carey and his companion Molly Hamilton of Accord, and Shaun Carey and his companion Anne Salvadore of Hawaii. Thelma is also survived by her great granddaughter, Katrina Carey of Germany. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Funeral services are private and at the discretion of the family. Arrangements are under the guidance of H.B. Humiston Funeral Home, Kerhonkson.
