Shirley J. Stoutenburgh

Shirley J. Stoutenburgh age 74 of Accord, NY passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2016 at Kingston Hospital. She was born on September 6, 1941 in Danforth, ME; daughter of Earl and Marion (Muncey) Knights. Shirley was predeceased by her husband Clarence Parent who died in 1987, and her second husband Edward Stoutenburgh who died in 2013.

Throughout her life Shirley was dedicated to helping others and for many years she worked at the Wassaic Developmental Center in Wingdale, NY as a Therapy Aide. She not only devoted her time but felt strongly about contributing to organizations especially the Covenant House for homeless youth. Shirley always had a ‘green thumb’ and loved tending to her gardens. And she was a faithful parishioner of the Rochester Reformed Church in Accord.

She is survived by her children; Clarence Parent Jr., Kathy Ashby and husband Mark, Arthur Parent and wife Tricia, Keith Parent and wife Janet, Sabrina Briehof and husband Ronald, and Scott Parent. Shirley has 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren with two more on the way. She is also survived by her three sisters and was predeceased by two sisters.

Funeral services are private and at the discretion of the family. Arrangements are under the guidance of Humiston Funeral Home, Kerhonkson, NY.
