Ruth Emma Osterhoudt a longtime resident of the area passed away at Golden Hill Nursing Home on Tuesday, March 20, 2018. She was 99 years old. Ruth was born on August 10, 1918 in Stone Ridge, NY; she was the daughter of Joe and Lena (Lockwood) Pratt.

Ruth fondly called “Granny” had worked at the Rondout Valley School District until her retirement in 1996. She was very active in her community having been a charter member of Troop 22 and the Indian Valley Little League. Ruth was also member of the Republican Committee, the Accord Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary and the Accord Senior Citizens. She also had a love for Siamese cats.

Ruth was predeceased by her husband, Edward; her daughter, Charlotte Sibeking; her sister, Vivian Waterfall and her grandson Brian Demorest.

She is survived by her children, Beverly Demorest, Douglas Osterhoudt and Stanley Osterhoudt; ten grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren and fourteen great-great grandchildren.

A celebration of Ruth’s life will be held at a later date.
