Roy Arthur Anderson

Roy Arthur Anderson, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away December 3,2024, in Poughkeepsie, NY, at the age of 86. He was born on March 11, 1938, in Ossining, NY, to Arthur and Bessie (Murray) Anderson.

Roy married his cherished wife, Shirley A. Damms, on January 24, 1959, in a ceremony at the Reformed Church in Ellenville, NY. Together, they shared a life filled with love and devotion. Roy was a dedicated family man, survived by Shirley, their daughters Connie Lynn Brackman of Grahamsville, NY, and Linda Decker of Kerhonkson, NY. He also leaves behind ten grandchildren, including his special grandson, Thomas Wilson, who was like a son to him, and ten great-grandchildren, including Oktober, who was the light of his life.

Professionally, Roy was a talented tradesman, finding a fulfilling career in carpentry, construction, security and maintenance. He was known for his work at the Ellenville Community Hospital, where he made many meaningful contributions before his retirement.

A passionate New York Mets fan, Roy enjoyed the thrill of the game, and he also loved to travel, particularly to the picturesque state of Maine.

Private funeral services will be held at the family's discretion. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Roy’s memory can be made to the Kerhonkson-Accord First Aid Squad, PO Box 67, Kerhonkson, NY 12446.

Roy Arthur Anderson's legacy lives on through his loving family and the many lives he touched throughout his years. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
