Robert John Stephens, Sr.

Robert John Stephens Sr., “Doc”, age 89 of Kerhonkson, NY passed away Thursday, December 26, 2019 at home. He was born on January 5, 1930 in Middletown, NY to the late Paul A. and Lela Agnes (Wilbur) Stephens.

Robert served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1953. He was a past member of the William Deakin-Walden American Legion Post #158 and the Drum Major of the drum and bugle corps. Robert was a past member of the Mechanicstown Fire Department. He had worked as maintenance and managed hotels and senior citizen housing in Middletown for many years. Robert was a good old “Mr. Fix it”.

Robert was predeceased by his wife Irene in October 2000. He is survived by his five sons, Robert J. Jr. and wife Sherry of Accord, Stephen and wife Stacey of Kerhonkson, David and wife Patty of Accord, Timothy of Kerhonkson and Daniel and wife Gloria of Newburgh; his daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and Andre Hamon of Kerhonkson; a sister Dorothy Sauer of Middletown; 26 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife Irene, Robert was also predeceased by his grandson Andre Hamon Jr.

As per his wishes Robert was cremated. A memorial graveside service is scheduled for January 21, 2020 11am at the Wallkill Cemetery, Middletown.
