Robert L. Boyer

Robert L. Boyer of Cottekill, NY, died on Sunday, February 26, 2017. He was 85 years old. Son of the late Blanche Kerbotsky and Roy L. Boyer, and stepson of the late Julia Ruman Boyer. Bob was born on January 14, 1932 in Flatbush, Brooklyn.

Bob married Patricia A. Bender Boyer in the Flatbush Church on August 11, 1963 and lived in Accord, later moving to Cottekill.

He had served his country in the US Army as Corporal with the Motor Pool. Bob received mechanic training in New York City and was employed in many garages. He had worked for the Bill Anderson Bus Company, Howard Anderson Chevrolet, Schwab Bus Company in Accord and the Nee & John Dickerson Garage in Kerhonkson before working for and retiring from the NYS Department of Transportation in Kingston. Bob enjoyed bowling and was part owner of the Flying M stockcar at the Accord Race Track. He also enjoyed snowmobiling and camping with his family. He was a life member of the Cottekill Volunteer Fire Company, member of the Stone Ridge American Legion and CSEA/AFSCME. He was a member of Christ the King Episcopal Church and for many years mowed the lawn. He was also involved in delivering meals from the Rondout Valley Food Pantry with his best friend Joan Pugliese. Bob will be missed not only by his family, but by all of those who were blessed by having known him. 

Bob is survived by his loving wife Patricia. Sons; Michael W. Boyer and his wife Gina of San Antonio, TX and Robert R. Boyer and his wife Karen of Cottekill, NY. Daughter, Susan L. Herwig and her husband Edward of Kingston, NY. Grandsons; Michael A. and his wife Brandie, Doug and his wife Brittany and Brandon. Granddaughters; Amanda, Leslie and Allison. Great grandsons; Brennen, Sebastian and Mason of Texas. And his niece Patricia Meoli and her husband Peter. Besides his parents, Bob was predeceased by his sister Mildred Setariano. And a special thank you to caregivers, Geneen Hamilton and Lin Barssett from the Anytime Home Care Agency.

The Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2017 11:00AM at the Episcopal Church of Christ the King, Stone Ridge, NY.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bob’s memory to the Episcopal Church of Christ the King, 3021 Rt 213 E, Stone Ridge, NY 12484.
