Phyllis Sartorius

Phyllis Sartorius, widow of John A. “Jack” Sartorius Jr., passed quietly early in the morning of August 31, 2016 at Golden Hill Nursing Home in Kingston NY.  The daughter of the late Gladys Phillips and Edward Hendrickson, both historic families of the Shawangunk Valley, she was a graduate of Ellenville High School Class of 1955.

Phyllis worked for many years at Channel Master, though remembered best from her years at T.H.E. Honda in Accord, and as a teller at Pawling Savings Bank in Ellenville.  Phyllis and Jack spent their last years together, traveling in their motor home, and visiting places as diverse as Hawaii and Alaska.

She is survived by her sisters, Fay Horn of Cragsmoor NY and Ruth Ann “Ruby” Bailey of Vero Beach FL; her children Deborah Halstead of Kingsland TX and Todd Demorest of Kerhonkson NY; step-children John A. Sartorius III of Manassas VA, David Sartorius of Bolton MA, and Thomas Sartorius of Raleigh NC; nine grandchildren, several nephews, nieces, grand-nephews and grand-nieces.

No services are planned at this time.  A family memorial will be held at an undetermined date.
