Penelope Belknap Kunz

Penelope Belknap Kunz, “Penny”, of High Falls, NY passed away on Wednesday, April 21, 2021. She was 75 years old. Penny was born on November 9, 1945 in New York City; she was the daughter of Charles Belknap II and Rosalie Allston Flagg Belknap. 

On May 16, 1976 in Alligerville, Penny married the love of her life Peter Kunz. Penny and Peter lived in Accord for 45 years where they raised their family. Peter passed away in 2015. 

Penny was a talented artist, having been a sculptor and a prop and model maker in the theater and film industry for 40 years. After retiring in 2002, painting and gardening remained her solace. Possessing a forceful personality but with little awareness of her own strength, Penny was generous with her time and skills as she worked tirelessly to better our community and the lives of those she loved. 

Penny is survived by her children, Johann J. Kunz (Angela) of New Paltz and Rowan F. Kunz (Jordan Bailey) of Kerhonkson; her grandchildren, Maple and Milo Kunz and expected granddaughter Bailey; her siblings, Abby Belknap, Rev. Chas Belknap; and her beloved lab, Benjamin.

Penny was predeceased by her sister Rosalie 'Nikky' Belknap. 

A celebration of her life will be held during a private memorial at Peter and Penny’s home in High Falls, NY. Those wishing to share memories to be read at the service may email jandakunz@gmail.com.
