Olive E. Bevan, widow of George F. Bevan Sr., passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2016 at Ten Broeck Commons. She was 87 years old. Olive was born on July 4, 1929 in Montreal, Canada; she was the daughter of the late Henry James and Elizabeth (Handforth) Morris.
Olive worked for many years as a Secretary at the Staten Island Hospital, but more recently was the Housekeeping Supervisor at the Holiday Inn in Kingston, NY. She was a member of the Samsonville United Methodist Church. Olive was an avid reader. She loved writing poetry and entering her life experiences in her journal. Olive also enjoyed gardening, knitting and crocheting.
Olive is survived by her children, George Bevan Jr. of Kerhonkson, James Henry Bevan of Davie, FL and Elizabeth Annie Bevan of Kerhonkson; her sister Harriet Cea of NJ; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.
Olive was predeceased by her son Jeffrey Thomas Bevan, her brother Arthur Morris, her sister Agnes Morris and her grandson George Frederick Bevan III.
Visiting will be held on Thursday, September 15th from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Humiston Funeral Home, Inc., Kerhonkson, NY. A celebration of her life is scheduled for Friday at 11:00 AM at the Samsonville United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Krumville Cemetery.
