Nicholas Oprysko of Accord, died Saturday, December 15, 2012. He was 86 years old. Nicholas was born on June 15, 1926 in NYC, the son of Dmytro and Katherine (Kushtak) Oprysko.
A proud member of the "Catholic War Veterans", Nicholas served his country honorably in Germany during the Second World War.
He was a giving and active member in his church, and a respected and much loved member of the Ukrainian, and Ulster County Community. He will be dearly missed, but we can take solace in the fact that he has gone to join the love of his life, his wife Elaine.
Nicholas is survived by his daughter Maria, and sons Paul, Andrew, Peter and his wife Sheila, and his three grandchildren, Patrice, Erin and Jacqueline.
Visiting hours will be Friday, December 21, from 5-7 p.m. at HB Humiston Funeral Home, Kerhonkson. Panakhyda will begin at 6pm on Friday. The Holy Sacrifice of the Divine Liturgy will be Saturday, December 22, 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church, Kerhonkson. Burial will follow at Holy Spirit Cemetery, Hamptonburgh.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Nicholas' name to the St Jude's Children's Hospital, the ASPCA, or the Children from Chernobyl relief fund.
