Nelson F. DeGondea

Nelson F. DeGondea of Kerhonkson, NY passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 26, 2021. He was 76 years old. Nelson was born on September 8, 1945 and had four siblings; Tony, John, Michael and Christine. He was the son of Anthony and Minerva (Swain) DeGondea.

Nelson was a long time resident of the Catskills and enjoyed writing poetry, working on and racing cars and his true passion was flowers. He owned quite a few businesses from carpentry to stone masonry, but his pride and joy was his floral business, Catskill Floral Supply.

Nelson is survived by his daughter Alon Melecci of Brent Lake; his stepdaughter Mary Leskody of Alachua, FL; and Sherry Schillaggi of Kerhonkson, NY who he loved as a daughter; his grandchildren Troy Melecci-Baker, Logan Melecci-Baker, Samuel (Melecci) Abare and Joshua (Melecci) Abare; his niece Rebecca DeGondea and nephew Jon DeGondea; also his girlfriend Alexandria Sascha Micancin.

You are invited to a celebration of Nelson's life on Saturday, January 1st at 1PM at the Samsonville United Methodist Church. All are welcome to attend his ceremony, as the family doesn't have contacts for all of his friends. Burial will follow at Krumville Cemetery.

The family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation in the form of flowers, as Nelson loved every kind.
