Millard 'Sonny' Terwilliger

Millard D. Terwilliger, ‘Sonny’, of Kerhonkson, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 8, 2022. He was 86 years old. Sonny was born on May 15, 1935 in Ellenville, NY; he was the son of the late Millard A. and Evelyn (Hull) Terwilliger.  

Sonny was a lifelong area resident. He served in the United States Army Reserves for many years and was honorably discharged in 1961. On September 18, 1955 he married the love of his life, Joyce Quick, at the Ellenville Methodist Church. He worked for Schrade in Ellenville as a Tool and Die Maker for 35 years, retiring in 2003. Sonny was an avid outdoorsman throughout his life. He loved birds and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Rondout Valley Rod and Gun Club and had been a Safety Instructor teaching hunter safety courses for many years.

Sonny is survived by his loving wife Joyce and their children, Stephanie Ballard and her husband Steve of Accord, and Steven Terwilliger and his wife Catherine of Wallkill; his grandchildren, Sheena Rodelli, and Sheela Tokle and her husband Kelsey; and his great grandchildren, Steven Coddington III, Joseph Rodelli IV, Mia Tokle, Austin Tokle and Lucas Tokle.

The family will be receiving friends on Saturday, February 12^th from 9-11am at Humiston Funeral Home, Kerhonkson. A celebration of his life will begin at 11am followed by the burial at Pine Bush Cemetery, Kerhonkson.
