Mabel E. Chipp (Humiston), 96, died on Monday, April 9, 2012 at the Kingston Hospital. Mabel was a lifelong resident of Kerhonkson, the loving daughter to the late Margaret and Howard Humiston, the founder of the H. B. Humiston Funeral Home in Kerhonkson.
Throughout her life, Mabel was active in several service and civil organizations. She was a member of the Kerhonkson Federated Church, served on the board of directors of the Ulster County Girl Scouts, was a past president of the Ellenville Hospital Auxiliary, a life member of Eastern Star, chapter No. 253, a Shawangunk Garden Club member, a member of the Child Study Club, and was a charter member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Kerhonkson Fire Co.
Mabel was predeceased by her husband, Arthur C. Chipp, who served as a Ulster County Coroner; devoted mother of M. Jean Chipp of Eugene, OR and Howard (Christine) Chipp of Buffalo, NY. Mabel was also the loving grandmother of Jonathan and Jeremy Flores of Eugene, OR and Timothy and Kara Chipp of Buffalo, NY. She was also a caring aunt to many nieces and nephews and close to many cousins.
Visiting will be held on Friday, April 13th from 2-4 & 7-9pm at H.B. Humiston Funeral Home, 30 42nd St., Kerhonkson. A celebration of her life will be held Saturday the 14th at 10 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Fantinekill Cemetery.
