June Kelsey, a beloved member of the Kerhonkson Ellenville community before moving to St. Remy, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2025, in the Hospice House in Hyde Park, NY after a long battle with cancer. Her last days were filled with love, compassion and kindness surrounded by family, friends and the amazing Hospice nurses and aides.

She was born on July 3, 1950, in Ellenville, NY, the daughter of Charles Virgil Kelsey, Jr. and Susie Alice Churchwell Kelsey. June completed her high school education and furthered her learning at Ulster Community College, paving her way to a fulfilling career in health care.

June led a life dedicated to caring for others, working as a home health aide with various employers, including Bermac, Willcare, and Home Health & Companion, after her time spent at Schrade Cutlery, New Horizons Resources and ARC.

June was also passionate about her volunteer work at Family of Ellenville for over 20years, as well. She was trained and participated in taking emergency (domestic violence and suicide) hotline calls… her crocheted crafts were shared and donated across the country to charities and gifted to people regularly through various donations…

Her compassion and dedication touched the lives of so many, highlighting her commitment to service and support.

She cherished her role as a mother to her daughter Stacey Alexander, and her son Allen Alexander; her grandchildren, Austin Michael Irwin and Susie June Alexander. June is also survived by her siblings, Darlene Kelsey Gaal, Charlene Kelsey, and Griffin Kelsey (Deborah Hunter); niece Deanna Gaal and nephews Charles, Griffin and Joshua (JD) who will carry her memory forward. She was predeceased by her son, Allen Alexander.

June shared her father’s passion, exploration and spiritual journey in the Native American customs and beliefs in her later years. She enjoyed going to Pow Wow with her grandson, Austin. Near the end, she was comforted by Charlene and Joshua’s visits to her bedside with native drumming, songs and chants to guide her in crossing over, letting go of her pain and welcomed home to join her father and son on Charlie’s birthday.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during visiting hours on Saturday, April 5th, from 10 AM to 12:30 PM, followed by a service at 12:30 PM at Humiston Funeral Home in Kerhonkson. June will be laid to rest at Krumville Cemetery at a date yet to be determined.
