John Zenecky

John Zenecky of Greenfield Park, NY and formerly of Yonkers passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at Ellenville Regional Hospital. He was 71 years old. John was born on November 19, 1944 in Schwaback, Germany; the son of Olga (Lysak) Zenecky and the late Stephen Zenecky.

John was a paratrooper in the United States Army having served with the 82nd Airborne Division during the Dominican Republic Battle in 1965. He was a member of the Elks Lodge #1971, the American Legion Post #111, The NRA, the Wawarsing Rod and Gun Club as well as the Ulster County Trappers.  John worked as an accountant and in his down time enjoyed spending time outdoors with nature.

In addition to his mother, John is survived by his wife Betty Zenecky; his children, Edward Zenecky of Ellenville, John Zenecky Jr. and Lisa Marie Kachnic and her husband Ronald all of Yonkers.

John was predeceased by his sister Maria Zenecky.

Visiting hours will be Friday, May 27th from 2-4 and 7-9pm at HB Humiston Funeral Home, Kerhonkson. The Panakhyda will begin at 7:30pm that evening. The Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday, May 28th at 10am at Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church, Kerhonkson. Burial with military honors will follow at Pine Bush Cemetery, Kerhonkson.
