Joan Norma Markle

Joan Norma Markle of Hurley, NY died Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at Health Alliance Hospital, Kingston, NY. Joan was born on February 11, 1943 in Ellenville; she was the daughter of the late Marjorie Lois Terwilliger and Kenneth Edward Potter.

Joan was a Telephone Operator in the Ellenville office when she graduated from the Ellenville High School until it closed in 1964. She married Donald Charles Markle in 1962. Joan was a member of the Highland Grange #888 and the Ulster County Pomona Grange #38.

In addition to her husband Donald, Joan is survived by their children, Michael Markle and Lisa Cadigan; three grandchildren, Christopher Cadigan and wife Alma, Kyle Cadigan and Alexandra Cadigan; two great-grandchildren, Marcus and Kaylina Cadigan; her brother, Wayne Edward Potter and wife Joan along with their children Steven and Shannon Potter.

The family would like to thank the nursing staff at Kingston Hospital for the wonderful aide and caring service they provided during Joan’s stay, and a special thanks to their wonderful friend Liz.

Visiting will be held on Friday, January 9^th from 2-4 and 7-9pm at H.B. Humiston Funeral Home, 30 42nd Street, Kerhonkson with a celebration of her life beginning at 8pm.

Memorial contributions may be made in Joan’s name to your local volunteer ambulance service or volunteer fire company.
