Jan Harry Wullum of Olivebridge, passed away Monday, October 9, 2023, He was 87 years young. Jan was born November 16, 1935 in Malvik, Norway, the son of Arne and Margit (Malvik) Wullum.
Jan came to the US in 1950 with his father. He graduated from Bergenfield High School in New Jersey in 1954 and went back to Norway in 1958. He came back to the US in 1959, and went back to Norway where, on May 20, 1961, he married the love of his life, Eli Nilsson. They then came to the US where they lived in Bergenfield and New Milford, New Jersey and settled in Krumville to raise a family. Sadly, Eli preceded him in death on July 16, 1998.
Jan was a very talented mason for many years and the owner of Wullum Construction and the Olivebridge Inn. Jan was a past member of the Olive Fire Department and a member of the Sons of Norway Hudson Valley Lodge #432 in Kingston. Jan was a well-respected man that will be missed by all who knew him.
Jan is survived by his daughter, Anita Hoppe and her husband Tim of Bloomingburg; son John Wullum and his companion Tricia Shimer of Olivebridge; his grandchildren, Erik Wullum, Taylor Beaubien and her husband Craig, Ellie Hoppe and Sarah Faurot, and his great-grandchildren, Harper and Katarina. He is also survived by his family in Norway.
Services will be held on Sunday, October 15th at Humiston Funeral Home located at 30 42nd St., Kerhonkson, with a viewing from 3-7 p.m. and a service at 6:00 p.m. that evening. A graveside celebration will be held on Monday, October 16th 10 a.m. at Krumville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
