James J. Harned, of Accord, NY, passed away on Friday,
February 1, 2013 at Kingston Hospital, peacefully, with his loving
family at his side. He was 81.
Son of the late Leroy Harned and Florence Hagenlocker, he
was born on April 30, 1931, in Newark, NJ.
James was employed by Ford Motor Company in Mahwah, NJ
for 20 years and was a self employed maintenance worker for 19
years.
He was a graduate of North Plainfield High School in Plainfield,
NJ and he earned a degree in finances from Rutgers University. He
served in the United States Air force, the 62nd maintenance
squadron, at Scott AFB in Illinois. He was an aircraft radio
repairman where he received a good conduct medal.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Harned of Accord, NY, his
3 sons, James Harned of Wawarsing, NY, Joshua Harned of Accord,
NY, and Jeremiah Harned of Kerhonkson, NY, and 5 grandchildren,
Andrew Harned of Kerhonkson, NY, Jonathan Harned of
Small wood, NY, Alexandria Harned of Middletown, NY, Brandon
Harned and Tyler Harned both of Kerhonkson, NY, whom he loved
very much. His favorite quote to his grandchildren was "No kisses
just handshakes".
He was predeceased by 4 brothers and 2 sisters, all from NJ.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 from
6-9pm. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 6,
2013 at 10am at the H.B. Humiston Funeral Home in Kerhonkson,
NY. Burial will immediately follow at the Pine Bush Cemetery in
Kerhonkson, NY.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the
Kerhonkson/Accord First Aid & Rescue Squad.
