Irvin Decker

October 21, 1940 — November 23, 2020

Irvin Decker a lifelong resident of the area, passed away on Monday, November 23, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 80 years old. Irvin was born in Cherrytown, NY on October 21, 1940; he was the son of the late Daniel and Grace (Forman) Decker. 

As a young man, Irvin served as a National Guardsman. He was a member of the Kerhonkson Fire Company for over 50 years and was a member of the Federated Church of Kerhonkson. Irvin was a hard worker his entire life having worked at Channel Master for over 20 years and Hudson International for 6 years as a Class A Machinist and Tool and Die Maker. Irvin worked for Usheco Inc. with the plastic injections department. Irvin also worked for Decker and Sons paving for 10 years retiring in 1997. 

He owned and operated Grandma’s Place restaurant and Old Tymes liquor store in Kerhonkson that was named after him because he always had his children with him following him around like little chicks and the old timers always said ”here comes grandma with his chicks”. 

Irvin married Doris Jean Beesimer Decker on June 28, 1964. Doris has since predeceased him. Irvin is also predeceased by his siblings, Ray Decker, Janet Bocher-Germany, Frances and Mildred Barringer, Pete Decker, Perley Decker, Leon Decker, Arthur Decker, Berton Decker and Roy Decker. 

Surviving are his children, Daniel Decker and his wife Sara, Raymond Decker and his wife Jodi, Allen Decker and his wife Ada, Michael Decker and his wife Kim and Tammie North and her husband Jason; his grandchildren, Meghan Albert, John North, Stephany Quick, Devin Decker, Jazzmin Decker, Brianna Decker, Scott Decker and Logan Decker; his great granddaughter, Amiya Mapes; his brothers, Douglas Decker and Donald Decker. 

A graveside service will be held at 12:00 pm Saturday, December 5th at Pine Bush Cemetery, Kerhonkson. 

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Irvin’s name to the Kerhonkson Fire Company, P.O. Box 62, Kerhonkson, NY 12446.
