Helen Viola DePew, 74, of Kerhonkson, passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at Ellenville Regional Hospital. Wife of Gerald L. DePew, daughter of the late Frank and Ruth Lane, born on December 17, 1938 in Ellenville, NY.
Predeceased by her brother, Frank Lane, Jr. She is survived by her loving husband Gerald L. DePew; her daughter, Shelly DePew-Reynolds; her son, Keith DePew and his wife Robin; her four grandchildren, Timothy Reynolds, Jake DePew, Jeremy Reynolds and Emily DePew; her sister, Dinah Mutz and her husband Charles; sister-in-laws, Patricia Panaccione and Margaret DePew; her nieces and nephews, Kevin and Ann Marie Mutz, Christopher DePew, Jennifer Bonelli, Denise Shannon, Lori Powers, Kim Greene and Shane Panaccione.
Helen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, sister-in-law and friend to all who knew and loved her. She worked in Channel Master Corporation Computer Division and the Schwab Bus Company and Arthur F. Mulligan for 45 years. She was a 52 year member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Kerhonkson Fire Company, board member and instructor of the Kerhonkson Drum and Bugle Corp. and member of the Federated Church of Kerhonkson. Helen loved to camp by the ocean in Myrtle Beach, shop and was always involved in her grandchildren’s lives as much as possible. Most of all she always put everyone else before herself.
Visiting will be held on Thursday, September 26th from 5-9pm at H.B. Humiston Funeral Home, 30 42nd Street, Kerhonkson. A Celebration of her life is scheduled for Friday at 11am at the Federated Church of Kerhonkson followed by burial at Pine Bush Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers monetary gifts can be sent directly to her grandson, Jeremy Reynolds at 11 Noest Road, Kerhonkson, NY 12446, for his continued fight against cancer.
