Harry ‘Jake’ Krom of Olivebridge, NY passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 14, 2022 at the age of 72. Jake was born on February 16, 1950 in Ellenville to the late Harry and Lily (Vieo) Krom.
A lifelong resident of the area, Jake served his country in the United Sates Army during the Vietnam War. He worked for many years doing maintenance at Ellenville Regional Hospital. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed gardening, taking care of the animals and just being outdoors. He was a gifted mechanic restoring many old cars and was a master at inventing things. Nothing was more important to him than his family, he will be missed by all who knew him.
Besides his parents Jake was predeceased by his granddaughter Lily Smith, his sister Nina Wynkoop and two nieces and two nephews.
He is survived by his wife Veda (Hummel) Krom, his children, Sherri Sparling (Chuck Huber), Cheriti (JC) Cruz, Wendy Krom (Mark Charpentier), Julie (Chad) Conklin and Harry J. Krom, II. Jake has 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving are his brothers, Donald and Leonard Krom, and his sisters, Diane Lynn, Darlene Sutter and Lisa Rider.
The visitation for family and friends to honor and celebrate Jake’s life will be at the Humiston Funeral Home, Kerhonkson on Thursday, August 18th from 12:00-2:00pm and 4:00-6:00pm. A service will be held at 5:30pm that evening.
