Harold E. Farquhar

Harold E. Farquhar “Gene” age 66 of Accord, NY died unexpectedly on Sunday, December 18, 2016 at Ellenville Hospital. He was born on November 4, 1950 in Clinton, OK; son of Harold and Martha Farquhar.

After graduating high school in 1969, Gene enlisted in the United States Navy where he was able to obtain his rank of E6 Chief Petty Officer in only 10 years. Gene had married Anita Keator on June 3, 1978 in Stone Ridge. After his accomplished military carrier he and Anita enjoyed their horse farm and raising the family. Gene was an avid sportsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and caring for any little critter he could find. He even raised an orphaned deer and many other animals. Gene most recently had worked as the Senior Peace Officer at the SUNY Ulster Community College.

Besides his wife, Anita, he is survived by his sons; Timothy Farquhar and Kristy Wilson of Stone Ridge, and Brian Farquhar and Rachel Lessard of Stone Ridge, his grandchildren, Caden, Landen and Katie and his brother Randall Farquhar of Wichita Falls, TX.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, December 21st from 5-8 p.m. at HB Humiston Funeral Home, 30 42nd St., Kerhonkson. A celebration of his life is scheduled for Thursday, the 22nd at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Stone Ridge, NY.
