Ella Dosiak

Ella Dosiak of Kerhonkson, NY, passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at the Ten Broeck Commons Nursing Home. She was 89 years old. Ella was born on March 30, 1927 in Frankfurt, Germany; she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Kathryn (Fritz) Berthold.

Ella and her husband Dmytro moved to New York in 1951 and lived in Ridgewood, Queens. She worked as a housekeeper and as an office cleaner for Tishman Properties in Manhattan from 1952 through 1978, and then moved to Kerhonkson. Ella was a member of the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church and enjoyed being involved in all church activities. Her husband Dmytro died in 2015.

Ella is survived by her grandchildren: Robert Dosiak and his wife Dawn Morvillo of Stone Ridge, Danielle Sweetman of East Rockaway, NY; and Edward McMahon and his wife Dana, also of East Rockaway, NY; eight great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law Kathleen Dosiak of East Rockaway, NY; sister Ursula Melzer in Germany, and several nieces and nephews in Canada and Germany.

Besides her husband, Ella was predeceased by her son Nicholas Dosiak in 2005 and by her brother and three sisters.

Ella’s family would like to offer a special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Ten Broeck Commons Nursing Home in Lake Katrine.

Visiting will be held on Sunday, October 16th from 5-7 pm at the Humiston Funeral Home, 30 42nd Street in Kerhonkson. The Panakhyda will begin at 6 pm. The Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Monday the 17th at 10 am at the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church.  Burial will follow at the Pine Bush Cemetery in Kerhonkson.
