Doris M. Somers

Doris M. Somers of Kerhonkson, NY, died peacefully at her home on August 24, 2009. She was 79 Years old. Doris was born on July 8, 1930 in Honesdale, PA, the daughter of Albert and Leonor (Roloson) Adam.

Mrs. Somers worked and owned the Kerhonkson Liquor Store for over 20 years. She was a life member of the Kerhonkson Ladies Auxiliary. Doris loved to go bowling and was an avid gardener. She enjoyed tending to her flowers and vegetable gardens.

On May 4, 1949 Doris married Martin “Corky” Somers at Holy Cross Church in Callicoon, NY. Mr. Somers died in 1988.

Doris is survived by her children: Theresa Kirylych of Kerhonkson, Patricia Rupp of Kerhonkson, Thomas Somers of Huntsville, AL and Sally Wilson of Immokalee, FL, her brother: Richard Adam of Fort Myers, FL, 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Visiting will be held on Friday, August 28th from 7-9 at H.B. Humiston Funeral Home, Kerhonkson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 am at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Burial will follow at Pine Bush Cemetery.
