Doris Jean Miller

Doris Jean Miller of Kerhonkson, NY passed away on November 20, 2020. She was 81 years old. Doris was born on December 2, 1938 in Margaretville, NY; she was the daughter of the late Alvon and Claudine (Hait) Fuller.

Doris had worked as a spray painter for Ballards Industrial Painting. She was very active within her community and spent many hours volunteering as a Boy Scout Leader and Girl Scout Leader and with the Rochester Food Pantry where she was in charge of the food intake. Doris was an EMT with the Kerhonkson-Accord First Aid Squad, a member of the Kerhonkson Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the Samsonville United Methodist Church.

Doris loved to bake and tend to her gardens. When the summer season was ending, she spent many hours in the kitchen canning and preparing for the long winter months. Doris’ real joy in life was the many camping trips she went on with her husband Gary.

“Across the years I will walk with you – In deep, green forests; on shores of sand; and when our time on earth is through, in heaven, too, you will have my hand.”

In addition to her husband whom she married on September 30, 1978, Doris is survived by her children, Cynthia L., Kelly D. and Matthew W.; her sisters, Marylou and Jan as well as many grandchildren.

Doris was predeceased by her brother Neil.

Cremation will be private. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made in Doris’ name to the Rochester Food Pantry or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
