Beatrice A. Brooks, a lifelong resident of Kerhonkson, NY passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, just one day shy of her 90th birthday. Beatrice, fondly known as Bea, was born on March 26, 1935, in Kerhonkson; she was the daughter of Paul and Evelyn (Baker) Booth.
Throughout her life, Bea held various positions, showcasing her versatility and strong work ethic. Early in her career, she worked at a sewing factory and later co-owned a catering business with her friend, Dinah Mutz. Additionally, she served as a bookkeeper for Clara Margaret Booth and, more recently, made a significant impact as a bus driver for the Rondout Valley School District.
A dedicated member of the Kerhonkson Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, Bea passionately served as President, Vice President and Treasurer for many years, showcasing her commitment to the community. She had a love for camping, cooking, and a unique collection of bells, crystals, and music boxes. These treasures brought great joy to her family, especially during the holiday season when she lovingly gifted the music boxes to her grandchildren.
Bea is survived by her children, Deborah Smith, Nancy Brooks, Judith Countryman and Robert W. Brooks and his wife Laurie; her grandchildren, Carrie Donnelly (Christopher), Ryan Smith (Briana), Vanessa Netzley (Derick), Rebecca Brooks (Jonathan), Alexandra Brooks (Rob), Amanda Rosa (Chris) and Cory Countryman (Barbara); her great-grandchildren, Izaak, Anthony, Chace, Ashlynn, Madison, Ellis, Hunter and Ryder as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bea was predeceased by her husband Robert J. Brooks, her brother Clifford Booth and her sister Ellen Steers.
Memorial visitation will be held at H.B. Humiston Funeral Home, located at 30 42nd St., Kerhonkson, on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. An auxiliary service and celebration of Beatrice's life will commence at 6:15 PM. A reception will follow at the Kerhonkson Fire House. Inurnment is scheduled to take place at Pine Bush Cemetery on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at 10:00 AM.
