Barbara Ann Cassidy O'Riley Penny

Barbara Ann Cassidy O’Riley Penny of Kerhonkson, NY, died January 3, 2009 at Kingston Hospital. She was 71. Barbara was born on May 20, 1937 in the Bronx, the daughter of Henry and Minnie (Serignese) Cassidy.

Mrs. Penny was the widow to John J. O’Riley, Sr. Together they raised their children in Poughquag and moved to the area in the 1980’s. Barbara had worker as a caregiver at the Hillcrest House in Ellenville for many years. She enjoyed going to penny socials, playing bingo and clipping coupons. She will always be remembered as a loving, caring giving person.

On August 20, 1982 Barbara married Earl Penny in Kerhonkson.

In addition to her husband Earl at home, Barbara is survived by her children; John O’Riley, Jr. of North Carolina, Maryann Anderson of Accord, Raymond O’Riley of Newburgh, Filomena O’Riley of Monticello, Tammy O’Riley of Accord, Michael O’Riley of Hurley, her step-daughter; Jennifer Penny of Woodbourne, her step-son; Shannon Penny of Accord, her brothers; Joseph, John and Thomas Cassidy, her sister; Patricia Dunn, 22 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Barbara was predeceased by her dear son; Jan Michael O’Riley, her great-grandson; Max William Hasenflue, III, her brother; Henry Cassidy and her sisters; Catherine Ryan, Anne Kruse and Margie Myler.
