It is with heavy hearts that we announce the untimely passing of Amiel Ryan Maerling of Accord, NY, who left us tragically on September 25, 2024, at the age of 32. Born on June 7, 1992, Amiel was a beloved son to Thomas and Tammy (North) Maerling.
Amiel was a spirited individual who demonstrated his athleticism and champion’s spirit. During his time at Ellenville High School, where he graduated in 2010, Amiel poured his heart into sports, proudly wearing the Blue Devil uniform and excelling in football and wrestling. His cherished achievements include clinching first place at the Section 9 Wrestling Championship, 2-time Sectional Champions with the Blue Devils football team and a selection to the 2009 “First Team Defense” Sec. 9 All-Stars.
Amiel would later, take his champion’s spirit from school sports and apply it to life’s adventures. He combined his love for four-wheeling and dirt biking with his love for friends and family, spending countless hours riding the trails and, at times, blazing new ones. Amiel was also a former member of the Wawarsing Rod and Gun Club who enjoyed fishing and shooting when not out riding.
Following his high school graduation, Amiel furthered his education at Ohio Technical College where he immersed himself in the world of auto mechanics, establishing not only expertise in his field but also forging lasting friendships that enriched his life.
In addition to his parents, Amiel is survived by his brothers Thomas A. Maerling and his wife Krystal of Montana and Christopher N. Maerling and his wife Amberly of Tennessee. Tammy and Tom would like to acknowledge and send a special thank you to Amiel’s extended families, the Mele’s and the Stark’s for the love they shared with Amiel. Both families did not just open their homes to Amiel, they opened their hearts, loving and caring for Amiel like he was a son and brother of their own.
He is also survived by his paternal grandmother, Mary Maerling, a host of nieces and nephews, Tommy, Nora, Gemma, Madison, and Remington, his aunts and uncles, Bobby (Janice), Amiel (Lucille), Jimmy (Betti-Jean), Mary, Elizabeth, Roxanne, Lori (Eric), Robert, Steven, James and Cathy, a multitude of cousins, Carissa, Jamie, Melissa, Frankie, Megan, Bobby, Sara, AJ, Maria, Kristen, Kyle, Jessica, William, Peter Jr., Jonathan and Cara. Completing his life of love and companionship was his loyal four-legged friend, Dozer.
Amiel was predeceased by his paternal grandfather William Maerling and his maternal grandparents Howard and Betty North.
