Alan T. Shaw

Alan T. Shaw, a lifetime resident of Kerhonkson NY, passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 4, 2017 at Highland Rehab and Nursing Home in Middletown, NY.

Alan was born on April 24, 1946 in Ellenville, NY. He was the son of Virginia L. Gray Shaw and adopted by John Glennie Shaw.

Alan retired from his Alma Mater, Rondout Valley High School, where he was a wrestler and returned to teach Biology and Earth Science. He was also an active Union Member.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia L’Amoreaux Shaw; his beloved sons Jason (Alberta); and Jesse (Tana); his precious granddaughters Sierra, Isabella and Hanna, all of Kerhonkson.

Alan volunteered with the Kerhonkson-Accord First Aid Squad as both a driver and an EMT. He was member of the Wawarsing Rod and Gun Club and Alan was a volunteer literacy teacher at the Ellenville Library for many years.

Alan was generous in every way, a voracious reader and loved food, music, his many pets and wearing colorful suspenders. He will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be held privately and at the family’s discretion.
